These programs allow for 2D or 3D designs, updates, and a visual representation prior to any construction; which saves quite a lot of time and reduces the potential for human error and the misunderstanding of technical aspects.

Another advantage of using CAD or BIM software is that everyone on development team can see the same design at the same time while collaborating.

You can think of structural drafting as being the most basic and fundamental underpinning of construction. Without structural drafting a person can not ensure any general direction, or an accurate plan, or guarantee that the building meets the basic standard for a building to stand (and be used), and be a long-lasting piece.
